About Us
Prof. David Burs BA,MS,  is a police professional (retired), supervisor and instructor with over twenty six years of experience in law enforcement and thirty plus years of martial arts training including; Korean Tang Soo Do (1973); Brazilian Jiu Jitsiu (1994); Tai Chi-Chi Na and Jow ga (1997).  Each of these arts allows him to understand concepts such as spatial awarenes(proprioception), closing the gap/distance, biomechanical manipulation, balance sensitivity and "no space", giving him great ability to instruct such areas as Monadnock Baton/Impact Weapons, Empty Hand Control Tactics, Ground Combat and RIPP Restraints, Handcuffing and Pressure Point Tactics.  He holds a dual Bachelor of Arts in Political Science & U.S./European History from UConn.  Mr. Burs is an international trainer in the martial arts, a national trainer in Arrest & Control Tactics (commendation from U.S. Marines martial arts instruction program) and he holds numerous certification areas with CT POSTC including Field Training & Instructor Trainer.  Mr. Burs instructs  FTO Programs for Connecticut Criminal Law Foundation,Inc.(Spector Criminal Justice Training Network) in conjunction with CT Field Training & Evaluation Systems, LLC and participates in the in-service programs independently instructing areas such as Legal Updates (case law) High Risk and Low Risk Motor Vehicle Stop Tactics, Arrest & Control, and PR24.  A  U.S.Jujutsu Federation Connecticut representative, Mr.Burs is a Master of Science (Adapted Exercise Physiology) graduate and an adjunct at Long Island University and Gibbs College in CT.  Please feel free to inquire about his pedigree and instructors.
